MARCH 9, 2014

Call to Order, Certification of Quorum, Constituting Prayer

The meeting was called to order by Vice Moderator, Rev. Nora Gonzalez. A quorum was declared present by acting Stated Clerk, Rev. Dr. Robert Rush. The constituting prayer also opened the meeting.

Selection of the Offering Recipient

The presbytery designated that the offering be sent to the Oak Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The offering was $459.00.

Welcome and Announcements by Pastor Host

Reverend Daryl Johnson, pastor host, welcomed all to the meeting and made necessary announcements. Reverend Johnson also served as liturgist for the ordination service.

Service for the Ordination of Walter Hoke as Stated Supply for Oak Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church

 II Timothy 4:1-5 was read, after which Robert D. Rush, preached a sermon entitled “Priorities for a Minister”. Priorities listed included: Preach the Word—the minister is to proclaim a Biblical message, be available to people, convince people to respond through exhortation and example, and serve with patience even in the midst of opposition. 

Licentiate Walter Hoke was presented.  

The Constitutional Questions were asked by Mary Kathryn Kirkpatrick 

after which Licentiate Hoke knelt for the prayer of ordination, which was offered by Reverend Geoff Knight.  

The ministers and elders gave the right hand of fellowship to the newly ordained minister.

Rev. Kevin Colvard gave the charge to the minister and read the declaration of ordination from the Confession of Faith

A robe was presented to Walter Hoke and his wife placed the robe on her husband.

On motion the name of Walter Hoke was placed on the Trinity Presbytery roll of ordained ministers.

Marvin Terrell, representing the Trinity Presbytery Committee on Probationers, presented to the newly ordained minister a Pastoral Record Book. 

In addition, a personal Communion Set, a Confession of Faith and other books were provided by the Pastoral Development Ministry Team of the Denomination, 

The newly ordained minister, Walter Hoke, celebrated Holy Communion assisted by elders from the Bertram Congregation.

The minutes were read and approved. 

The presbytery adjourned to meet at the Antioch Church, Quitman, Louisiana, at 1:00p.m. on September 26, 2014.

Reverend Walter Hoke pronounced the benediction, after which “Victory in Jesus” was sung.

A reception honoring Rev. Hoke was held in the fellowship hall.

Elders: Gloria Cline, Houston First; Sam Hamilton, Bertram

Also present from the Oak Grove Commission was Elder Marvin Terrell. In addition, Elder Terrell, along with Rev. Rush,

represented the presbytery Committee on Probationers.
