Trinity Presbytery
Oak Grove Re-Development Commission
Report to Trinity Presbytery
Meeting at Elmira Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church
February 21-22, 2014
On Thursday, December 19, 2013, the commission met with the Oak Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church and Licentiate Walter Hoke, who had been preaching there monthly since September 2013, and with Rev. Daryl Johnson, former session moderator.
After meeting with the congregation and with interested parties, the commission determined that there is a great desire for this church to survive.
Actions Taken:
1. The commission asked Licentiate Walter Hoke to preach twice a month and to hold some meetings (Bible studies, mission work, etc.) at the facility on the other Sundays.
2. Ask presbytery to provide $100/month (from the St. Paul Fund) to pay for preaching twice a month in 2014.
On Sunday, February 2, 2014, the commission met at the Oak Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church for a Re-Development Worship Service recognizing Denomination Day.
Actions Taken:
1. One new member came forward to request a transfer of membership by letter. Three current members also came forward to reaffirm their membership.
2. The commission voted to issue a call to Walter Hoke to serve as Stated Supply for the Oak Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
This Re-development Commission plans to continue guiding this congregation as the Lord leads.
